CHICAGO ESTATE PLANNING COUNCIL  2011 - 2012 COMMITTTEES

ADVERTISING/SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE, Co-Chaired by Michael Calahan and Jordan Layer

This Committee is responsible for identifying luncheon, annual event, directory advertisers and golf outing sponsors in all of the available categories of sponsorship.  There are three Subcommittees.

The Executive Director, Kathleen Callahan, chairs the Subcommittee that contacts former sponsors for renewals.  Co-Chairs will organize Committee members to identify and contact potential new sponsors.  Larry Herman will chair the Sponsorship Initiatives Subcommittee, which reviews and recommends to the Board the costs for the different levels of sponsorship, new sponsorship opportunities, and new benefits to provide for sponsors.

The Committee’s objective is to have luncheon sponsors identified by February 1, and directory advertisers and golf outing sponsors identified by April 30.  Once sponsorships are committed, the Executive Director is responsible for billing, collection and other follow up.

Membership on any Subcommittee entails 1 – 3 meetings a year, plus telephone solicitation of about 10 sponsors or potential sponsors.

ANNUAL OUTING COMMITTEE, Chaired by Seth Charnes, with Board Liaison Michael Calahan

Committee meetings are held in April and June.  Committee members solicit and confirm sponsors for the outing, and are assigned to various tasks associated with organizing and managing the annual golf outing.  The Executive Director, Kathleen Callahan, works with the Chair on all logistical matters.  The time commitment varies, dependent on individual responsibilities assumed.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE, Chaired by the Secretary – Todd Schneider

The Membership Committee has three Subcommittees.  The Admission to Membership Subcommittee consists primarily of Board members who review applications for membership in the Council and make recommendations to the Board regarding admission.  The Member Recruitment Subcommittee meets two or three times a year to discuss and implement strategies for retaining old members attracting new members to the Council.  The Membership Requirements Subcommittee, chaired by Bryan Malis, Michelle Hermann, and Todd Schneider, reviews and develops criteria for membership, designs membership application and interview forms that reflect these criteria, and liaisons with the By-Laws Committee on these issues.

PUBLIC OUTREACH COMMITTEE, Co-Chaired by Stacy Singer, Susan Bart and Tina Milligan

This popular Committee is responsible for educating the public about estate planning and probate issues.  Its Subcommittees develop, review and update written materials for seminars and publication on the CEPC Website, schedule public programs, maintain a speakers bureau for those programs and other requests for speakers, train speakers and provide materials for the Website, for which it liaisons with the Website Committee.  Subcommittees meet 3 – 4 times yearly, or as needed.

MEMBER APPRECIATION EVENT,   Chaired by Chris Casey, Debbie Korompilas, Jordan Layer

This Committee plans the annual Member Appreciation Event.  Members of the Venue Subcommittee research possible locations and dates, and make recommendations to the Board.  They also produce an invitation for and information about the event.  The Sponsorship Subcommittee liaisons with the Advertising and Sponsorship Committee in identifying a sponsor for the event.  Both Subcommittees work with the Executive Director and the venue on budgeting and logistics.

YOUNG MEMBER INITIATIVES COMMITTEE, Chaired by Michelle Hermann, Debbie Korompilas, Chris Casey

The Young Members Initiatives Committee has three Subcommittees.  The Programs Subcommittee produces four (4) workshops for younger members (defined as those with 2 – 8 years of experience), identifying topics, speakers, dates and venues for these workshops.  It is customary for the chairs to attend the workshops and welcome guests.  A new Subcommittee this year is designed to identify ways to attract and retain younger members.  This Subcommittee will identify and implement new initiatives for younger members, and will liaison with the Member Recruitment Subcommittee of the Membership Committee.
